How long does a microblading procedure take?

Microblading is a 2 step process, usually 4-6 weeks apart. It is imperative to complete both the initial procedure and touch up for a beautiful brow .

STEP 1: The initial procedure takes approximately 2 hours. Before starting the procedure, a
consultation is done - touching on your desired brow look, choosing a colour tone and draw the blue print outline of the procedure area for your approval. Please take note that our faces are NOT perfectly symmetrical (one side is usually higher or less arched than the other), we do our very best to create as much symmetry to your brows as possible! Once you are satisfied with the basic shape and symmetry, the area is then traced over proceeding with the procedure. A semi-permanent pigment is applied with a disposable microblading hand tool. (This procedure uses a manual hand tool and not a machine.- Different from Micropigmentation)

STEP 2: The second stage of the treatment is a "Touch-Up appointment." The touch up that takes approximately 1 hour and is included in your service. Touch ups are done 30 days after your first session and before 60 days (included in today's price) and every 6 months to 2 years to keep them looking fresh and beautiful. Touch up sessions after 60 days will be current touch up rate at time of touch up. ***Failure to follow after care instructions may result in infections, pigment loss or discoloration.

If you have more questions on microblading, be sure to check out our FAQ's button below.

Does it hurt afterwards?

The area can be a little sore for the first few hours and tender to touch for a couple days. We do provide a sample ointment to quicken the recovery process.

Can you guarantee results?

Microblading is different for everyone! Here at The Misses, we use sterile disposable blades and ensure only the best techniques therefore prompting the best results, BUT each person heals differently. Due to different skin types and other natural factors, or even lack of aftercare. That's why touch up is important to ensure longer lasting brows.

How long can I expect it to last?

The pigment used in microblading is semi-permanent and can last between 1-3 years. The pigment will begin to fade within 12 months after the procedure. In order to keep your brows looking fresh, a touch up is recommended every 12 months to 24 months maximum. Note that after 2 years, full price for microblading will apply.

For clients that choose a softer look and lighter color shade initially or those who did not follow the after care instructions properly may require more frequent touch ups. Please see After Care for in depth information on how to keep them lasting.

Factors that will cause your microbladed brow tattoo fade faster:
• Iron deficiency
• Sun exposure
• Exfoliants
• Strong immune systems
• Exposure to salt water
• Smoking

Semi-permanent vs Permanent?

Technically, semi-permanent micro-pigmentation is considered permanent because the colour is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, the pigment is implanted more superficially and does not go as deep into the dermis as a traditional tattoo would resulting in it fading over time.

Does the application hurt?

We take every precaution necessary to ensure the microblading procedure is as pain free as possible. Truthfully, everyone has different pain tolerance. A strong topical anaesthetic cream is used prior to and during the procedure to keep you as comfortable as possible. Some have experienced little to no pain while others have said to have felt some slight discomfort. It depends on how well you respond to the numbing creme, and pain tolerance. The question is, is it worth it? Absolutely! Who wouldn't want to wake up to new brows?

How long is the recovery or healing time?

Immediately after your microblading procedure and in the first 10 days, your brows will appear significantly darker and defined than perhaps your desired look. It may continue to get darker over the next few days as scabs begin to form, however this will fade by 30-50% as the scabs fall off within 7-10 days. In some cases, the scabs may take longer to heal and fall off. DO NOT PICK YOUR SCABS. The pigment is within the scab and you do not want to pull any pigment out of your skin prematurely. We all heal differently and what works on one client may not be effective on another so please do not compare your results. You do not need to take time off after your procedure.

The complete healing process takes approximately 6 weeks.

The following must be avoided during all 7 days post-microblading procedure:

• Increased sweating                                             • Sun tanning or salon tanning

• Swimming                                                            • Picking, peeling or scratches of the micro pigmented area

• Hot sauna, hot bath, or Jacuzzi                           • Drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing

• Sun tanning or salon tanning                                  of wounds

• Driving in open air vehicles such as  boats         • Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any

convertibles, bicycles, motorcycles, etc.                 creams containing Retin A or Glycolic Acid on the face or

• Touching of the eyebrow area except for               neck

when rinsing and applying the post care

cream with a cotton swab.

How do you choose a colour?

By applying small amounts of different coloured pigments to the skin near to your brows and selecting the best match for your skin tone, taking in consideration any features you may change such as hair color etc. We prefer to closely match the color of your brow hair rather than your current hair color for the most natural results.

Can I have my brows microbladed if I’m pregnant?

No you cannot have this treatment done if you are pregnant in case of infection.

Can you micro blade over an existing brow tattoo?

Absolutely! Microblading can be done over an existing brow tattoo, however the old tattoo must be significantly faded for the hair strokes to show through and look natural. If you do have an existing tattoo we ask that you submit a picture to determine if you are a candidate for this procedure.

Do I have to shave my eyebrows?

Not at all. We work alongside with the natural hair given therefore executing an even more realistic finish.

Are there any side effects during or after the procedure?

Depending on the client, there may be some minor bleeding during the procedure.
If you take blood thinners on a daily basis, then some slight bleeding
may occur. Bruising is rare but can occur.
